McKeown, Kerry A.

Kerry focuses her practice on defending businesses in the areas of products liability, premises liability, and general liability as well as creditors’ rights matters.

Kerry had the honor and privilege of beginning her legal career working as a judicial law clerk at the Fifth District Court of Appeal for the Honorable F. Rand Wallis. After leaving the court, Kerry transitioned to civil litigation where she worked for some of the larger civil defense firms in the state. As a result, she has a wide array of experience in both state and federal courts, including breach of contract, commercial torts, premise liability, negligent security, product liability, medical malpractice, and related causes of action. Kerry also is a go-to member of the firm for complex motion drafting and appellate issues.

Kerry’s background in appellate law enables her to consider each case with a broad perspective, improving her ability to determine the most efficient and effective resolution for her clients.

Kerry was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Studies from Queen’s University. Kerry obtained her juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from Barry University School of Law in Orlando in 2017. She has made Central Florida her home since then.

Kerry is a theme park enthusiast and in her spare time can usually be found in one of central Florida’s theme parks.

Owens, Keef F.

Keef Owens began his legal career serving as a four-year law clerk to the Honorable Charles M. Harris of Florida’s Fifth District Court of Appeal. Keef subsequently joined an Orlando law firm where he defended employers, insurance carriers, and servicing agents in workers’ compensation litigation and on appeal before Florida’s First District Court of Appeal. From 2016 through 2022, he served as a governor-appointed Judge of Compensation Claims. Keef brings his experience as an appellate law clerk, appellate attorney, and judge to his representation of the firm’s clients in advanced motion practice and appellate matters.

 

Reid, Jeré D.

Jeré D. Reid was born in Brooklyn, New York and migrated to Central Florida as a teen. She graduated from Gateway High School in Kissimmee, Florida, received her bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education from the University of Central Florida, and earned her Juris Doctorate from Florida A&M University College of Law.

While in law school, Jeré served on the Student Board Association and completed a plethora of community driven initiatives in the Central Florida area.  After becoming a member of the Florida Bar, Jeré began to sharpen her legal skills as an Assistant Public Defender in Circuit 9.  As an Assistant Public Defender, Jeré gained substantial experience in prelitigation, negotiations, depositions, motion drafting, and trial practice.  Jeré is also a member of the Osceola Bar Association and serves as the association’s Public Information Officer.

When not in the office, Jeré enjoys spending time with her big, beautiful blended family, honing her graphic design skills, and volunteering her time to at-risk youth and disadvantaged populations throughout Central Florida.

 

Richman, Scott A.

Mr. Richman represents clients in complex product liability, personal injury and commercial litigation matters. He has extensive experience representing manufacturers in state and federal courts involving claims of personal injury and property damage related to alleged product defects, including motor vehicles, consumer products and industrial tools and equipment. Mr. Richman also has significant experience representing clients in other types of personal injury matters including premises liability and motor vehicle collisions, as well as commercial litigation, including contract, business disputes and alleged unfair trade practices. For over 10 years, Mr. Richman has served as national counsel defending property damage and personal injury claims related to fires caused by an alleged product defect.  Mr. Richman also serves as regional counsel for a major tire manufacturer overseeing catastrophic personal injury litigation in six states in the Southeast.

Toole, M. Gary

Gary Toole serves as national, regional and local counsel for domestic and foreign product manufacturers and excess insurance carriers in catastrophic injury cases throughout the United States. He has served as lead trial counsel in trials involving catastrophic injury cases in California, New Mexico, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Florida. He also assists domestic manufacturers in coordinating discovery throughout the United States and with their foreign subsidiaries.

Wiggins, Michael J.

In December 2024, he announced that he was taking Senior Status with the newly formed McDonald Toole Richman & Correnti, P.A. Michael Wiggins was a founding member and senior partner of McDonald Toole Wiggins, P.A. He is counsel to manufacturers and corporations in the U.S. and internationally, and his litigation practice is devoted entirely to defending large damage and catastrophic injury cases for the automotive, consumer products, industrial equipment and medical device industries. He is a nationally-recognized trial lawyer that has defended and tried cases in over 20 states and federal jurisdictions around the country. He is frequently retained as lead counsel in mass tort, class action and pattern litigation around the country, and he has extensive experience managing local counsel in the role as regional or national counsel. Most recently, he has led or co-led trial teams in cases tried to verdict involving claims exceeding $100 million and is currently leading teams that are scheduled to defend catastrophic cases in Florida, Colorado, Indiana, and Nevada.

He has been listed or named to “Best Lawyers in America”, “Florida Super Lawyers”, “Florida’s Legal Elite” and Orlando Magazine’s “Best Lawyers” for 15 consecutive years dating back to 2010.

His most important work is as an advocate for children with cancer, and he is the co-founder and Former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cannonball Kids cancer Foundation (“CKc”), a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation dedicated to funding medical clinical research. To date, the Foundation has funded in excess of $5 million in clinical trials for cancer found only in children. He is a frequent speaker on the reason and need for funding of research. He lives in Orlando with his wife, Melissa, and their five children: Olivia, Cannon, Arran James, Gray and Charlie.
